How a Valparaíso Wine Tour Day Works
Pickup in Santiago, the coast in the morning, the hills at midday, the vineyard on the way home.
Pickup in Santiago
The pickup time and your guide's name arrive by WhatsApp or email after 8 pm the evening before. The van collects you from your hotel or Airbnb in central Santiago; airport pickup costs extra (US$15 a person each way on the listing) and depends on availability.
Viña del Mar and the Coast
About 120 km west along Ruta 68 to Viña del Mar: the Flower Clock, the Easter Island moai outside the Fonck Museum, and the sea lions at the Caleta Portales fishing cove on the road into Valparaíso.
Valparaíso's Hills on Foot
The guide walks you through Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre, past the murals of Pasaje Gálvez, Paseo Gervasoni and Paseo Atkinson, with a ride on the El Peral funicular. Lunch is on your own in Valparaíso; it is not included.
The Casablanca Tasting, Then Back
On the way back the van stops at a vineyard in the Casablanca Valley, where the listing gives about 45 minutes for the tasting. The order can change with the winery's schedule. You are back in Santiago about ten hours after pickup, or dropped at Valparaíso port if you ask.

The Comparison
Every Valparaíso Wine Tour, Ranked by What You Actually Get
How many wineries, how long at each, who picks you up, how big the group is, and what it costs. Then the one to book.
A Valparaíso wine tour is almost always a day trip from Santiago that pairs the port city’s painted hills with a tasting in the Casablanca Valley, the wine country you cross on Ruta 68 between the capital and the coast. The best first-visit pick is Best Trip Chile’s Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Casablanca wine tour: hotel pickup in Santiago, a guided walk through Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre with a funicular ride, and a vineyard tasting on the way back, for $65 in current promotion (usually $70) a person (checked October 2026). It is rated 4.8 from 1,330 reviews. If the wine matters more than the port, book a day at three or four Casablanca estates instead; the ranking below shows the difference.

What “Valparaíso wine tour” means in practice
Valparaíso itself grows no wine to speak of. The vineyards are inland, in the Casablanca Valley, a cool strip of hills about halfway between Santiago and the coast where morning fog from the Pacific suits white grapes: Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay above all, with Pinot Noir and Syrah. Every tour on sale is one of three shapes:
- A Valparaíso day with one tasting. From Santiago, about ten hours: Viña del Mar’s seafront, a guided walk in Valparaíso’s UNESCO-listed hills, free time for lunch, and one vineyard stop of about 40 to 45 minutes. Best Trip Chile’s wine tour and Stampstour’s Casablanca Valley tour are the most-reviewed.
- A dedicated winery day. From Santiago, also about ten hours, but spent at three or four estates (Emiliana, Viñamar, Bodegas RE, Casa del Molle, Casas del Bosque), about 75 minutes each, with lunch at Tanino, the restaurant at Casas del Bosque. No Valparaíso.
- A short tour from the coast. If you are already staying in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar, the valley is about 50 minutes away by car, and a vineyard visit with a coastal pickup takes about three and a half hours. There are only a handful of these.

The honest catch at the bottom of the table: the cheapest “Casablanca” days stop at Río Tinto, a roadside wine shop on Ruta 68, for a welcome glass and an olive oil tasting. That is not a winery visit. If wine is the reason for the day, spend the extra and book a tour that names the estate.

The Casablanca wineries worth knowing
The valley’s tasting rooms sit along about 15 km of Ruta 68 and its side roads. Emiliana is Chile’s largest organic winery, at kilometre 60.7, with tours Tuesday to Saturday. Casas del Bosque, founded in 1993, lies in the coolest, westernmost corner of the valley and has the Tanino restaurant. Bodegas RE makes experimental blends in clay vessels, Viñamar specialises in sparkling wine, and Indómita has its cellar built into a hillside. The winery guide maps them and shows which tour visits which.
Valparaíso Wine Tours, the company
Search for “Valparaíso wine tours” and the first result is a tour company of that name, with an office inside a boutique winery on Cerro Mariposa in Valparaíso. It runs a round-trip wine bus, one-way transfer tours with winery stops, and a bike tour at Emiliana, booked by enquiry on its own site. Our page on the company sets out what it sells and its booking terms, beside the tours you can book here with a live calendar.
Where to stay, and the day before
Most wine tours collect from hotels in central Santiago (Providencia, Las Condes, the centre). If you would rather wake up by the sea, stay in Valparaíso’s historic hills or in Viña del Mar and take a coastal pickup:
- Hotels on Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso
- Hotels in Viña del Mar
- Hotels in Providencia, Santiago, for the tour pickups
The where-to-stay guide weighs the hills against Viña del Mar.
If you have a day in Valparaíso before or after the wine tour, a free walking tour of the hills is the easy way in: booking is free and the guides work for tips. See the free walking tours of Valparaíso on GuruWalk.

How these facts were checked
Written 26 October 2026. Tour prices, ratings, review counts, group sizes, durations, the wineries on each itinerary, the tasting counts and the next available dates are from the GetYourGuide listings, read on 26 October 2026. The road distances were measured along the road from central Santiago to the town of Casablanca and on to Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. Winery details (Emiliana’s address, tour days and size; Casas del Bosque’s founding year and location) are from the wineries’ own websites, and the valley’s history (first vines in 1982, a wine denomination since 1994) from published wine references. The company Valparaíso Wine Tours is described from its own website, read the same day.

Valparaíso Wine Tour FAQ
The questions people ask before booking a Casablanca Valley wine tour, answered in the first sentence and explained after.
For a first visit, a day from Santiago that walks you through Valparaíso's hills and stops for a tasting in the Casablanca Valley; for wine lovers, a dedicated day at three or four Casablanca estates. The combined days (Best Trip Chile's Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Casablanca wine tour, rated 4.8 from more than 1,300 reviews, and Stampstour's Casablanca Valley tour, 4.8 from more than 2,100) give you one vineyard stop of about 40 to 45 minutes. The dedicated days skip Valparaíso and spend about 75 minutes at each of three or four wineries, such as Emiliana, Bodegas RE and Casas del Bosque. The winery guide shows which tour goes where (ratings as listed in October 2026).
From about $60 to $90 a person for a Valparaíso day with one tasting, and about $139 to $149 for a three- or four-winery day, both from Santiago with hotel pickup (GetYourGuide, October 2026). Small-group days with lunch and pairing run to about $224 to $249. Lunch is extra on almost every shared tour. The cheapest tours, around $30 to $40, stop at the Río Tinto wine shop on Ruta 68 for a glass rather than visiting a winery. The price guide breaks the ladder down, with the wineries' own fees for anyone going without a tour.
A full day: about 10 hours from Santiago, whether it is a Valparaíso day with one tasting or a dedicated three- or four-winery day. Pickups start around 7:00 to 8:00 and you are back in Santiago in the early evening. From Valparaíso or Viña del Mar the valley is much closer: a Casablanca vineyard tour with pickup on the coast takes about three and a half hours, and the drive is about 50 minutes each way.
Yes, but there are far fewer options: most Casablanca wine tours are sold as day trips from Santiago. From the coast you can book a short vineyard tour with pickup in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar, hire a driver-guide, or ask a Santiago tour about drop-off on the coast: Best Trip Chile's wine day offers a drop-off at Valparaíso port on request, with luggage arranged in advance. The Valparaíso or Santiago guide compares the two starting points.
Tipping is optional and not included: every shared tour we compared lists gratuities as excluded. Many travellers tip the guide at the end of the day, and you pay for lunch separately on most tours. Someone else drives, so nobody in your group has to stay sober for the trip back.
Cool-climate white wine, above all Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, plus Pinot Noir and Syrah. The valley lies between Santiago and the Pacific on Ruta 68, and morning fog and sea breezes keep it cooler than the valleys around Santiago. Vines are recent here: the first were planted in 1982, and the valley became an official wine denomination in 1994. Emiliana, Chile's largest organic winery, Casas del Bosque, Viñamar, Indómita and Veramonte are all within about 15 km of each other along the highway.
December to April: summer weather on the coast, the vines in leaf, and the harvest, which usually runs from late February into April. The town of Casablanca holds a free harvest festival (the Fiesta de la Vendimia) each April; the 2026 edition was on 11 and 12 April, and the 2027 date had not been announced when we checked in October 2026. Tours run all year. In June and July, the wettest months on the coast, the vines are bare, but the tastings go on.
Valparaíso Wine Tours is a wine-tour company based in Valparaíso that sells its own tours on its own website; this site compares the wine tours you can book on GetYourGuide. The company runs a round-trip wine bus, one-way transfer tours with winery stops, and a bike tour at Emiliana, booked by enquiry on its own website. Our page on the company sets out what it offers and how it compares with the tours you can book instantly here.
No. There is no passenger train between Santiago and Valparaíso; the bus is the practical option. Turbus, Pullman and Condor run frequent buses, most from Terminal Pajaritos in Santiago, and the trip takes about an hour and a half in normal traffic. The only railway on the coast is the local line from Valparaíso through Viña del Mar to Limache, which does not reach Santiago. The intercity buses pass the town of Casablanca, but not the wineries' gates.
